In the Spotlight: My Breakthrough Journey

I am who I am today because of
the choices I made yesterday.

I have to admit, launching this website under my own name is a bit intimidating and overwhelming. So much so, that I already built an entire website about a year ago and then tore it down. Having a website under your own name can be daunting and brings up a lot of questions and fears. Questions like, who am I to think anyone cares about what I have to say? Or even, is anyone listening?

But despite my fears, here I am. I’ve taken that first step and now I’ll just have to wait and see what happens. And those are two of the big things I want to talk about on here: letting go of fear and stop trying to take control of your life/future/outcome.  We’ll get into those topics on future posts, but for now you might be asking yourself how I even got here. Who is this Beth person? And what led her to start this blog?

The Backstory:

Instead of taking you through my whole life story, I’ll just give you the nutshell version. I was born in Texas and moved to Michigan when I was very young. I grew up on the east side of the state and then went to college on the west side, near Grand Rapids. My time at college was incredible and I made an amazing group of friends. It seemed like most of my friends scattered after graduation, so I stayed in Grand Rapids for two years and then decided to move to Colorado.

Moving halfway across the country by yourself is a big change, but I’m so glad I did it. There are still times when I look back and feel amazed at my own bravery and guts, even ten years later. Sometimes I still draw on that brave choice now and remind myself that if I could take such a big leap at the age of 24, I can surely do anything I set my mind to.

Why now?

That brings us to now, which is the launching point for this website. I have been on a journey of growth and self-discovery that started a few years ago but has really kicked into high gear for the past year. This journey has taken me through the lowest part of my life and I’ve thankfully come out on the other side like a brand new, shiny penny. I am happier than I’ve ever been and the best part is that this happiness is unconditional. There are no “If, then” statements, like “If I lose weight/get a new job/fall in love, then I’ll be happy.”  None of that nonsense!

For the first time in my life, I feel like the pieces have all fallen into place to allow me to see my true self and to love her unconditionally. Trust me, it’s an amazing feeling! And since I’ve come through this incredible journey I have realized that there may be a lot of other women out there who are looking for the same sense of self-love. That’s the purpose of this website and specifically this blog. I want to help other women who are embarking on the same journey I have been on. And not because I’m an expert or because I’ve got all the answers, but because I know how lonely it can be to do this on your own.

What to expect:

My goals for this blog are about sharing my own journey and the lessons I’ve learned along the way so that other women (and maybe men, too) can have a little bit of an easier voyage than I’ve had. Ideally, I’d love to create a sense of community here where we build each other up with our comments and stories. This doesn’t have to be a one-woman show. I want this to be a place where everyone can open up and be themselves, knowing they’ll find acceptance and love from everyone else.

This is just the beginning, but I am so excited for everything I have planned to share with you!  Please stay tuned to hear more about letting go of fear and beginning to live a life of unlimited potential.

Until then, sending all the light & love your way,
Beth  ♡
